New Students are invited to attend the UGDSB International Student Orientation
Dates: August 28 – September 1, 2017. It will be a fun and productive week!


This is for all students except John F. Ross students.  John F. Ross students please see details in next section below.

Welcome and Assessment at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute

Passport & Study Permit
Latest original transcript/report card
Custodian Declaration Document
Host Family Address and Contact Information
Immunization Record
Pen, pencil, eraser and calculator

During this day you will be welcomed to our school board and get an overview about our program.  You will also do an English and Math assessment to ensure you are being placed in the appropriate class for your abilities.
We will also have a representative from homestay there for you to meet.
Lastly, there will be representatives present from the Royal Bank to assist in setting up a bank account for you if needed.
A catered lunch will be provided for you on this day.  If you have any food restrictions, please email us at the email below to let us know.

**This day will end at different times for each student depending on the amount of time they take to complete their assessments.  Please arrange with your homestay host about how to contact them when you are finished for the day and make arrangements for your way home.

***Please note, if you cannot attend on Monday, August 28th please contact our office at international.student@ugdsb.on.ca to make an appointment for your orientation.

Individual School Orientation (Guelph students only) and Packing for Camp

As you will soon see, Guelph is a very popular destination for our secondary students, so we need you to go to meet at your school on this day (Tuesday).  [This will be a good opportunity to try to find your way to school as the school buses will not yet be running.] On this day you will have the opportunity to meet the other international students that will be attending your school.  You will also gain valuable information about your school and have a school tour.  You should also get your locker and timetable on this day as well.

If you will be attending Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI), you will need to be at the school by 9:30a.am. [GCVI may still be under construction at this time and students may not be allowed to enter.  We will let you know for certain on the 28th]

If you will be attending Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute (CCVI), you will need to be at the school by 12:00 p.m.

If you are attending one of our other schools, you will be welcomed at your new school on September 5th, the first day of classes.  Please go to the front office and you will be told where you need to meet with your International Student Lead teacher. On this day, you will have a tour of your school, and receive your timetable and your locker.

AND…

All students must pack for camp and get a good rest…camp will be busy!!! Packing list is below. Do not bring any valuables as neither UGDSB, ISX nor the camp will be responsible for any missing items.
