THE SCHOOL: Orangeville District Secondary School (ODSS) is located in the town of Orangeville. The school has been operating for more than 125 years! Our staff works to ensure that students graduate from high school with all of the skills they need to go on to college or university, or to enter the workforce and begin the career of their choice. In choosing from a broad academic curriculum, students can also prepare for university by taking a college-‐credit course as part of their ODSS high school experience. They can also choose to study a particular field of interest and earn a “specialist high skills major” certificate in that field, giving them the specific insight, knowledge and skills they need to begin their career.
THE CORE VALUES: Innovative Education ⋅ Respect ⋅ Community
THE MISSION: To challenge and foster every student to become an educated, contributing member of society by ensuring a mutually respectful and vibrant culture through innovative programs and creative community partnerships.
THE COMMUNITY: Orangeville is the second largest urban centre in our district, and it is just an hour’s drive from Toronto. In the annual “Great Places in Canada” contest, Orangeville’s main street was voted the best main street in Canada, with both the “Great Street” and “People’s Choice” awards. With a dynamic youth theatre company, a cinema complex, a sports centre with a swimming pool and two ice rinks, arts and food festivals, and so much more, Orangeville is the cultural hub for the surrounding small towns and rural communities.
