THE SCHOOL: Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) is located about 100 kilometres from Toronto, in the vibrant urban community of Fergus. Students come from Fergus and the nearby village of Elora, as well as surrounding rural areas. We provide a supportive environment where the needs and strengths of every student are recognized and considered, and where lifelong learning is fostered. In striving for excellence, staff members are committed to practicing and promoting positivity: Positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences.

THE CORE VALUES: Learning ⋅ Respect  Community

THE MISSION: To ensure that students learn by providing a consistent approach to policies, procedures and practices, with our core values at the focal point of our decision making at all times.

THE COMMUNITY: Students have access to a broad range of activities and cultural opportunities in the side-‐by-‐side communities of Fergus and Elora. Both of these picturesque and historic towns are located along the banks of the Grand River and have some of the original stone houses built in the 1800s. Each town has its own character. Fergus was a Scottish settlement, and it now hosts the largest Scottish Clan gathering in North America. A dynamic community and sports centre has an ice rink and 25-‐metre indoor swimming pool, as well as a year-‐round schedule of sports and leisure activities. Elora, a scenic village overlooking a beautiful, ancient gorge, is a cultural hub and home to many artists and crafts people. It is home to the Gorge Cinema movie theatre, which is the longest continuously running repertory cinema in Canada. The town boasts such world-‐class events as two annual music festivals and offers a range of sports from cycling on the Trans-‐Canada Trail to zip lining and camping.
